Octopus’s Garden Hostel is in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle on the north shore of Banderas Bay. In the patio is a restaurant, a coffee-shop and an art gallery; upstairs is an airy dance/yoga salon. The hostel upstairs has well-ventilated rooms, a communal kitchen, hot water for showers and good wi-fi signal.
Marina Riviera Nayarit adjoins the village and visitors may stroll the promenade next to the beach. A large Sunday market opens there with everything from organic fruit to beautiful handicrafts. Just outside is an anchorage with up to 60 sailboats. Several famous beaches are close by, for surfing and natural beauty, and up in the mountains are historic sites such as Mascota and San Sebastian.
Travellers can get to the hostel easily on public transport from Puerto Vallarta airport in about 45 minutes. In the village there are several small grocery shops, pharmacies and restaurants.
