My beautiful restored Merchant’s townhouse has 8 spacious suites and is the result of a loving restoration in the heart of Porto’s old town in a quiet cobbled street running parallel to the square of Porto town hall.
Behind the traditional tiled façade is a modern architectural gem, created around an atrium that floods the building with natural light. The property is filled with custom-made furniture, original art, premium appliances and fun gadgets.
Operated as one of Porto’s most successful Guest Houses, and consistently in the top 3 on various review platforms and Traveller’s Choice winner year on year, Canto de Luz is also available for exclusive occupation, where the whole space becomes yours to welcome friends and families or work colleagues travelling together as a private Maison.

Our breakfasts have become the stuff of legend. They change daily according to the season and produce available in our local markets – always homemade with love.
Ideal for those who want a relaxing and luxurious place to stay which is a world apart from the chain hotels and poor quality accommodation otherwise available.
Portuguese health laws prohibit guests from using our main kitchen, but our Private Chef is available to cater for your group if required. You also have access to the kitchens in the City Retreat and Urban retreat which are perfect for preparing light meals and both are equipped with Dishwasher, Microwave, Oven, Induction Hob, Washer Dryer and more.
Our 3 apartment suites - City Retreat and Urban Retreat 1 and 2 feature 50 inch Smart TVs with Free Netlfix and OnDemand streaming from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. Urban Retreat 1 also features an Xbox with two controllers and is loaded with a range of games.

• Excellent supermarket, bike rental, cafes, bakery, fromagerie (cheese shop) and Vinoteca (Portuguese wine shops) are all 2 mins walk
