Welcome to the Old Fisherman's House
A very special apartment, on the top floor of a 1909 house, in the best spot of the beach of Valencia, La Malvarrosa.
With bus and tram a few steps away and very close to the universities and the new fashionable area of the city (El Cabanyal), but without the hassles of having bars and restaurants close by. The sea breeze comes directly into a clear space next to old stately homes and new luxury apartments, retaining the charm accumulated in a century of existence of an old fishing house built at the beginning of the 20th century, with a lot of history. During the 20s and 30s, a summer resort of the Valencian petty bourgeoisie, renovated in 2018, rescuing the old hydraulic tiles for the kitchen, reinforcing and keeping the old beams in view and taking advantage of the height so that the sloping roofs can be enjoyed, the terrace facing the sea from which you can see a small part of the beach and also the gardens and courtyards of old manor houses, among them the one built by the botanist Felix Robillard who, with his perfume factory, gave name to the area and to the most famous beach in the City of Valencia.

The walls installed after the integral reform are mobile and you can have all the open space or the rooms closed and fully equipped. The upper rooms are isolated by means of curtains. The feeling of intimacy is not that of conventional closed rooms but thanks to the careful design of walls and curtains, the traditional partitions are not missed.

The old, small narrow access staircase from the street gives way to a diaphanous and wide floor, with a 6 meters high ceiling, two levels, with black iron beams that confer a boat style from the early twentieth century in the first level and the old wooden roof beams that hide a last generation thermal insulation and give rise to two attic rooms with a lot of charm and all the comforts.

There are two sofas that can be used as beds that would allow the group to expand to 10 people if necessary (although the nominal capacity is 8 people).
Powerful central air conditioning and heating system that keeps the ideal temperature throughout the house at any time of the year.

The terrace has a canopy and a comfortable set of sofas, bench and table, as well as a table and chairs for an outdoor lunch or dinner for up to 8 people. It is accessed from the kitchen.

The ample open space, the large table, a small bar and at least 20 chairs and stools (more can be provided on demand) allow the floor to be used as a meeting place for associations, companies, etc. Always asking for the utmost care, since the apartment is very clean and the renovation is very recent.

Malvarrosa is the most appreciated beach of the city. Part of its value lies in its length of more than 2 km and its width, which allows the installation of services of all kinds and infrastructures of sport and play in the sand.
Initially, the land occupied by the current beach was a small enclave where fishing and fish trade were practiced. From the mid-nineteenth century there is a process of urbanization with summer residences for the characters of the local bourgeoisie such as the writer Blasco Ibáñez, from which we can visit his house-museum today, the painter Joaquín Sorolla (the paintings that decorate the house are of this artist) or the Botanist Félix Robillard.

Several bus lines connect the rest of the city with La Malvarrosa. The night line N1 as well as the 19 and the 31 have a stop right at the house. The 92 and the 32 have stops a block away and the 93 and 98 two blocks away.
But the fastest and easiest system of transport in Valencia is the metro / tram network. The stops of La Cadena and Eugenia Viñes are also two blocks away, just 3 minutes walking. The tram lines are 4 and 6 that link directly to the different metro lines. Taxis are always around the Av. de los Naranjos.

I live on the ground floor of the house and I take care of the plants, vines and palm trees of a leafy patio that go up to the windows of the upper floor, providing aroma and freshness to its luminous kitchen.
I am usually available at home or very close to the University, where I teach, which is less than 10 minutes walking.
